Gallery Gachet

gallerie gachet

Gallery Gachet, named for van Gogh’s psychiatrist, of whom he was fond. this gallery exhibits work by persons with diagnosed mental illness I understand well how critical the help of a well trained psycholanalytical ear can be for an artist. Nothing is worse than being stuck, unable to move creatively in any direction. When, at some point, the soul is so burdenered, we can be crushed under the weight of unsorted thoughts, and losses never yet dealt with.

When my psychiatrist died a few years ago it was as if a close member of the family had died, and I grieve him to this day as I did my father. Every time I pick up the brush I am keenly aware of his gift to me of putting my creative soul to right. We all need an ear, artists don’t do well in a vacuum, we need people more than we’re sometimes ready to admit.

This is a wonderful blog, I look forward to contributing some original work soon.

Oh, I’m so excited!! This blog is going to be some much fun and a good addition to all the amazing writing blogs attached to the Soul Food Cafe.

I am hoping that you’ll be dying to create visual arts in addition to your writing and using the great creative visualisation prompts from the Bumper Catalogue we’ll have a very colourful blog on our hands.

So, as this journey along the Serpentine Road slowly begins, I have been altering a book to use as my “photo album”. With each new chapter, I’ll be adding something to it and posting the images here. I’d love it if you’d do the same.

In addition to this, we plan to co-ordinate some snail mail art. Imagine, Raven art all over the place!

So, hang onto your feathers girls. Stay tuned for the next installment!
